Dr. Nick and Dr. Elliot are pleased to offer professional-grade teeth whitening, including Sinsational Smiles®. Professional-grade teeth whitening treatments are far more effective and safer than over-the-counter strips, gels, or toothpastes.
Your smile says so much about you. A warm, welcoming smile conveys friendliness and an outgoing personality. But if your teeth have turned yellowish or dull, you might hesitate to greet others with a smile. You don’t have to live with yellow teeth—there’s a quick, easy, and affordable solution available at Long Island Implant & Cosmetic Dentistry. With a little help from our Long Island dentists, you can transform your smile in less than an hour.
Your teeth whitening options
Before discussing your teeth whitening options with you, Dr. Nick or Dr. Elliot will perform a thorough oral examination, making note of any cavities, crowns, veneers, and other restorations. Restorations like crowns are artificial, and so they will not respond to teeth whitening treatments. If you have any cavities, you’ll need to have these filled prior to treatment. Then, one of the experts at our Long Island dentistry practice will ask you about your aesthetic goals and treatment preferences. There are two primary options for professional teeth whitening.
- Take-home whitening trays: If you wish, you can take home a teeth whitening kit to use at your convenience. These kits aren’t like the ones you can buy in a store. They are far more effective and less likely to cause teeth sensitivity or gum irritation.
- In-office whitening: The most drastic and quickest results come from in-office teeth whitening. Dr. Nick or Dr. Elliot can perform this treatment in less than an hour. You’ll leave the Huntington office with noticeably whiter teeth.
What to expect from professional teeth whitening
After your consultation, if you have chosen our in-office whitening treatment, a silicone tray with the bleaching agent will be placed in your mouth. The soft silicone conforms to the shape of your mouth, allowing you to remain comfortably relaxed. The dentist will use an LED accelerating light to activate the whitening ingredients and increase their effectiveness. You’ll leave the office with additional whitening gel to use at home to maintain your brilliantly white smile.
If you’ve chosen the take-home kit, Dr. Nick or Dr. Elliot will create a series of custom-fitted trays based on impressions of your smile. Choose from regular, mint, or melon flavors. It only takes 30 minutes per day to complete the treatment for up to 10 days.
How to maintain your teeth whitening results
Professional teeth whitening treatments at our Long Island dentistry practice offer dramatic, long-lasting results. However, the same things that caused your teeth to discolor before will eventually cause discoloration after your treatment. You can preserve your results for as long as possible by avoiding highly pigmented foods and beverages. These include blueberries, coffee, tea, and red wine. To minimize the effects, consider drinking herbal or white tea instead of green or black tea. Drink with a straw and brush your teeth soon after eating.
Another way to maintain your results is to visit Long Island Implant and Cosmetic Dentistry for professional cleanings every six months. You may also want to schedule an additional teeth whitening appointment every one to three years, depending on your diet and aesthetic preferences.
New and current patients are encouraged to get in touch with our office in Huntington, Long Island to schedule an appointment for teeth whitening or a one-on-one consultation for a total smile makeover!
